Hummingbirds and Milkweed

Last summer I bought three milkweed plants from the nursery. This summer, one of the Scarlet Milkweeds has officially settled in and is doing awesome. And the hummingbirds have really taken a liking to it. I caught a video of this little one drinking from the milkweed. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to capture on film the best part: the hummingbird flew right up to me, inches from my face, and just hovered there, looking at me. If I had reached out my hand I could have touched it! Since then, it’s been stopping by the backyard quite a bit. Dare I say, maybe I have a new best friend.
