Flowers and Fruits

California Goldenrod

This year I’ve focused on adding natives to my garden. In May I brought home from the nursery a 4-inch starter of California Goldenrod (Solidago californica). I transplanted it to my front yard and since then it’s tripled in size. It’s been flowering for the last few weeks and it’s warm-yellow flowers are a constant reminder that it’s fall. It’s quickly becoming my new favorite plant and I think my neighborhood bees and butterflies would agree.
